Microids has just officially announced the release date for Syberia Remastered, and it’s coming soon: set for November 6, 2025! Spoiler alert: it looks stunning.
Kate Walker makes her grand return
More than 20 years after its original release, Syberia returns to the spotlight with a remastered version that promises to do justice to Benoît Sokal’s masterpiece. The game will be available starting November 6 on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, and to top it off: a Meta Quest 3 version will arrive on November 13 for those who want to experience the adventure in VR.
For those who would be discovering this legendary saga (yes, it still exists!), Syberia plunges us into the poetic and melancholic universe of Kate Walker, a New York lawyer who thought she was simply finalizing a purchase of an automaton factory in the French Alps. Except that her journey quickly derails into an epic initiatory quest across Eastern Europe, accompanied by Oscar, a robot with a charming flair.
A technical facelift that respects the original
What makes this remastered version interesting is that it’s not just a simple graphical polish. Developed jointly by Virtuallyz Gaming and Microids Studio Paris, this version modernizes Benoît Sokal’s unique universe while preserving the emotion and artistic identity that marked an entire generation of players.
The recently released comparative trailer shows the scale of the work: the clock-punk environments keep their soul but gain in detail and visual richness. It’s clear that the developers have pulled out all the stops to ensure this version lives up to the original while appealing to new players.
Limited physical edition on the agenda
Good news for collectors: a limited physical edition will be available the same day as the digital version, featuring the game and an exclusive mediabook. In an era where physical releases are becoming scarce, this is always welcome!
Our verdict (ahead of the release)
Syberia remains a benchmark in point-and-click, with its unique atmosphere and its deeply human narrative. If this remastered version respects the spirit of the original work while offering today’s technical standards, this could potentially be one of the best ways to discover or rediscover this classic.
Set your calendars for November 6 to see if this promise will be kept. In the meantime, fingers crossed that this remaster lives up to Benoît Sokal’s legacy.
